Starting in Kranjska Gora, the route rolls seamlessly across the Italian frontier along dedicated, traffic-free cycle paths that trace the footprint of an old alpine railway line. Set against the peaks of the Julian Alps, this route delivers an exceptional riding experience entirely along smooth asphalt on separated cycling paths. While the initial stretch offers a relaxed, rolling ride, the profile changes as you approach the destination - the final kilometer turns steeply upward, gaining approximately 80 meters in elevation. If you are riding with younger cyclists, bringing a tow rope for this is highly recommended. Reaching the lower lake, rewards your efforts with a nice restaurant right by the shoreline. Recommending to take a short walk over to the upper lake, where the open views of the surrounding vertical limestone walls become even more spectacular. You can also plan a mid-ride pause at nearby Ledine Lake, which also requires just a short walk off the main path to explore. Just south of Kranjska Gora, the route head towards Lake Jasna. Framed by limestone peaks and guarded by the iconic Bronze Goldhorn statue, Jasna's crystal-clear waters make an ideal stop before the return leg.
